How to enjoy the hot springs.

There are important manners that should be followed to ensure everyone can enjoy bathing.
Here is an explanation of the steps, from entering the bath to leaving it.
Japanese Hot Springs Bathing Manners
First is “kakari yu,” referring to the water used to rinse yourself off.
Sit next to the tub and pour this on yourself, being careful not to splash on your surroundings.
Start pouring the kakari yu water in the order of feet, ankles, hips, stomach, and then shoulders to reduce the burden on your circulatory system and to get your skin used to the hot water.
When entering the bath, it is good for your shoulders to be slightly above the water. Stretch out your arms and legs and relax.
The time to remain in the bath is different for each person, but a rule of thumb can be to leave when your face is covered in sweat.

Bathing Manners

Do not place the towel in the bath.
Do not enter with a swimsuit or with a bath towel on your body.
Do not use the shower while standing.
Women with long hair should tie up their hair so that it does not touch the water.
Do not speak loudly or swim in the bath.
It is not permitted to drink alcoholic beverages while bathing.
Those with tattoos are not permitted to enter the bath.
Do not under any circumstances release the drain plug.
After leaving the bath, dry your body off fully before entering the changing room.
After leaving the bath, drink plenty of water and relax fully.
Please follow the rules and manners outlined above to fully enjoy the hot springs.
